While Chinese New Year 2026 will take place slightly later in February next year, travellers are already locking in their flights for the Spring Festival break.

APAC destination bookings to all destinations are already up 26% YOY, while hotel bookings have risen 16% compared to the same period in 2025, according to new data from hospitality digital marketing platform, Sojern.

Meanwhile, flights from China to all destinations during CNY are up 54% and hotel bookings up 28%, indicating a strong rebound in outbound travel for the Chinese market.

Chinese travellers are also flying farther, heading to Europe, Middle and Africa, where bookings went up by 330%.

Overall, leading the growth in global bookings for the festive season is East Asia, which saw a 42% hike in hotel bookings. Southeast Asia takes second spot (+39%), followed by domestic travel plans (+22%).
