A main feature of the new solution will also be consistency in the way content is displayed, from room categories and rates, as well as conditions such as guaranteed cancellation, loyalty points, Wi-Fi and breakfast.

Sabre released a new lodging solution for agency and corporate bookers last week that will offer content from Booking.com, bedbank Bedsonline and Expedia Partner Solutions alongside its traditional GDS content from hoteliers.

The solution will pull together over one million property options across multiple sources on one screen, a move that has been touted to fill in the gap in accommodation options especially from third-party sources like online travel agents and aggregators on a GDS platform.

A main feature of the new solution will also be consistency in the way content is displayed, from room categories and rates, as well as conditions such as guaranteed cancellation, loyalty points, Wi-Fi and breakfast.

Travel agencies will have full flexibility to choose the aggregator content they would like to access.

“We looked at the pain points and needs of customers on both sides of the network – the ‘demand’ side including TMCs, leisure agencies and corporations and the ‘supply’ side including hoteliers and lodging aggregators. Then we challenged ourselves to see how – given our unique positioning – we could help move the industry forward,” said Traci Mercer, senior vice president of lodging, ground and sea for Sabre Travel Network.

Sabre formed a partner advisory board to get feedback while building the new Content Services for Lodging solution.

It found in a usability study that standardising and structuring the content display helped agents reach a booking decision 30% faster. Another benefit was that all bookings, even those through an aggregator, would be active GDS segments, meaning that aspects such as commission structure would apply.

The new API capabilities will soon be incorporated across all Sabre points of sale including Sabre Red 360 and GetThere, an online travel management solution. Additional API enhancements will be added in 2020.
