MATTA inks MOU with Indian agent associations to boost arrivals

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with national travel associations from India namely Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) and Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) to boost tourism between Malaysia and India in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020.

Said MATTA President Datuk Tan Kok Liang, “Malaysia is ready to welcome foreign tourists including from India for Visit Malaysia 2020 and this MoU is a winning collaboration for MATTA, TAAI, TAFI and OTOAI, which augurs well for tourism in both countries.”

To encourage more tourists from India to visit Malaysia, MATTA will be introducing new itineraries and tour packages, said the travel association in a press release.

The number of tourists from India has seen a steady increase in the past three years with 552,739 in 2017, 600,311 in 2018 and 750,000 expected in 2019, an increase of 23.2%, said Datuk Tan.
