The return of live music festivals are jazzing up Southeast Asia's live events scene again.
Following an 8-year hiatus, the Samui Summer Jazz will run from 7-12 June 2022 on the Thai island of Koh Samui.
Over six evenings, a large delegation of Dutch international jazz and World Music artists will perform alongside local groups across the island's five-star resorts and clubs.
Heading up Samui Summer Jazz is renowned Thai jazz celebrity and saxophone player Koh MrSaxman as the artistic director, with a programme featuring a line-up of local and international talent including the Saskia Laroo Band, Paul van Kessel, Natalie Schaap, Alexander Beets Quintet and Ben van den Dungen Quartet with vocalist Deborah Carter.
In East Malaysia, the iconic Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is returning to Sarawak this year.
Themed “Legendary Rainforest Celebration”, RWMF in its 25th edition will take place from 17-19 June 2022 in a hybrid format, with the physical concert taking place at Sarawak Cultural Village while viewers can also livestream the performances via rwmf.net.
The festival will bring together a host of international performers, including Australia’s BluGuru, solo act Timo Väänänen from Finland, and Randrianantoandro Clément a.k.a Kilema of Madagascar.
A week later, the Borneo Jazz Festival will happen from 24-26 June at Coco Cabana in Marina Bay, Miri, Sarawak.
The 14th Borneo Jazz Festival spans a line-up of international and local artists, highlighting 15 bands and DJ’s over three days.
