Mekong Moments is a digital campaign and travel inspiration platform, powered by ENWOKE, that will allow businesses in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), regardless of size and type, to develop their own campaign by encouraging consumers, staff, and stakeholders to share their Mekong Moments.

Mekong Tourism has gone to the movies with the red-carpet launch of its first Mekong Moments powered campaign, the Mekong Mini Movie Festival, at ITB Asia.

The Mekong Mini Movie Festival screened visual content that is being generated by visitors’ experiences in the GMS in videos of 60 seconds or less, uploaded to their own Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube and tagged with #MekongMoments and #Minis

The content will be aggregated into MekongMoments.com to inspire people to research and book travel to China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam through increased awareness globally of the Mekong River and its region as an experiential travel destination, and promote responsible travel.

Individuals and companies can create their own campaigns by encouraging guests and staff to share their moments by tagging #MekongMoments and #YourExperience when uploading on social media from Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, and Pinterest.

The vision of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO) is to promote the Great Mekong subregion (GMS) as a single tourism destination, and contribute to poverty reduction, gender equality and empowerment of women. Responsible Travel is one of the priorities, and the MTCO is also launching the Experience Mekong Collection (www.ExperienceMekong.org) which allows anybody to nominate their favourite responsible travel experiences in the GMS that make an impact.

“Our goal is to build capacity for the travel industry in the GMS and Mekong Moments is accessible to any organization, from individual tour guides to international hotel chains and enabling people passionate about the region to share their experiences via visual content to inspire others,” says Jens Thraenhart, executive director, Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office.

“It's a unique collaborative C2C marketing initiative. The more businesses that participate, the more the region as a whole will get promoted, while driving exposure to the individual businesses.”
