This comes hot on the heels of the company’s acquisition by The Flight Centre Travel Group in July 2017, and another 15 hotels are in the pipeline for the next 24 months, according to Paul Wilson, executive vice president commercial, BHMA Hotels and Resorts.

Bangkok-based hotel management company BHMA Hotels and Resorts is aggressively building its presence across South-east Asia, with five hotels opened in 2018 and two more announced for December.

This comes hot on the heels of the company’s acquisition by The Flight Centre Travel Group in July 2017, and another 15 hotels are in the pipeline for the next 24 months, according to Paul Wilson, executive vice president commercial, BHMA Hotels and Resorts.

“We want to take the business to the next level. We’re focusing outside of Thailand for our inbound markets; we want to work with every regional market and international market,” said Wilson. “In fact, we’re signing a hotel a month now across our three distinct brands.” These include the X2, X2 Vibe, and Away Resorts and Villas.

The company’s expansion plan includes a focus on gateway and second-tier cities, away from the established presence of more well-known brands. Adds Wilson: “In these areas, people want a bigger experience. The Polish and Scandinavian market, for example, are moving away from legacy destinations.”

In terms of distribution, BHMA is working with online platforms as well as travel agents in the destinations where it operates. In December, the company will make its first foray into Indonesia with its luxury brand X2 Bali Breakers.
