The park, which has attracted more than 30 million visitors since opening in 1991, is being closed ahead of the lease expiry. A new home had been found for its sea creatures, including pink dolphins, fur seals and otters, in Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai, China.

Haw Par Corp will close the 25-year-old Underwater World Singapore on June 26 with two years remaining before the expiry of its lease on the facility on Sentosa.

The park, which has attracted more than 30 million visitors since opening in 1991, is being closed ahead of the lease expiry. A new home had been found for its sea creatures, including pink dolphins, fur seals and otters, in Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai, China.

The attraction had been hit by competition from Resorts World Asia’s Marine Life Park as well as complaints about the welfare of its sea creatures.

On the attraction’s website, Haw Paw Corp noted, “Underwater World Singapore is one of the special places in Singapore where family memories are made and cherished.

“In appreciation of the support over the years, Underwater World Singapore invites everyone to revisit family memories at Underwater World Singapore at its 1991 opening ticket price of S$9 per adult and S$5 per child from June 7-26.
