Members of the serviced apartment industry in Singapore have formed an association, Albert Lau, chief operating officer of The Ascott told TravelWeekly East on Wednesday.

"It's (an association) already been gazetted," Lau said. "We're one of the founding members. Now they're in the process of voting to appoint council members and a chairman."

Lau said the group would either be called the Serviced Apartment Association of Singapore or Association of Serviced Apartments Singapore. He did not know exactly when the association had been formed but said it had at least six founding members, including The Ascott.

"The association is intended to give the industry a common voice and to raise the level of professionalism."
