KUALA LUMPUR - P.T. Riau Airlines, a regional scheduled airline, will start services to Malacca from June 23 June.

Services, on the Fokker 50 aircraft, will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays on the Pekan Baru - Malacca vise versa route. On Mondays and Fridays, RAL 1534 will arrive Malacca at 12:30pm and RAL1535 will depart for Pekan Baru at 1:30pm.

For Wednesdays and Saturdays services, RAL1530 will arrive Malacca at 11am and RAL1531 will depart to Pekan Baru at 12 pm. Arrival in Pekan Baru will provide provincial connections to Tanjung Pinang, Batam, Singkep, Matak and Rengat.

P.T. Riau Airlines, owned by Riau Provincial Government owned airline, was officially inaugurated on March 5 last year.

With the latest addition, Malacca Airport now handles 11 flights per week, including three flights by Berjaya Air to Padang and four flights by Merpati Air to Pekan Baru. This is indeed a boost to the tourism industry, particularly for Malacca.
