Meliá Hotels & Resorts has welcomed its first property in the Maldives with the launch of Meliá Whale Lagoon, a 30-minutes seaplane transfer from Malé International Airport.

Located at the South Ari Atoll, the all-inclusive resort offers 100 private oceanfront villas, ranging from beach villas (78sqm) by the shoreline, water villas (85 sqm) suspended directly over waters, or the larger sunset suite villas (114 sqm) which comes with a private pool and guaranteed sunset views.

Meliá Whale Lagoon Maldivas has four restaurants and bars serving Mediterranean and international cuisine, two infinity pools, a fitness centre and a Balinese-inspired spa.

The resort is located within the South Ari Marine Protected Area, which is known for year-round sightings of whale sharks and manta rays, offering water activities such as snorkelling, diving, paddleboarding, and kayaking.

Younger guests can sign up for activities and drop by the games room, or parents can opt for paid in-room childcare services.

For adults, the resort serves up movie nights, live music performances, karaoke, wine tasting sessions, concerts and live shows, evening entertainment and more.
