Journey Beyond, an Australian tour operator, has debuted luxury train suites for rail journeys.
The operator unveiled all-inclusive Aurora and Australis suites on the Indian Pacific, travelling between Perth and Sydney; the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin; and the Great Southern between Adelaide and Brisbane. Already, 95% of 2026 departures have sold out; 2027 suites are available now for booking.
Journey Beyond calls the new suites "the most significant evolution" of its rail offerings. CEO Chris Talent said their debut "represents a new chapter for Journey Beyond and for luxury travel in Australia."
He added that suites "offer guests a private sanctuary on board, a place to unwind and fully immerse themselves in the journey."
The Australis Suite includes a lounge, separate bedroom with a queen-sized bed and an ensuite with double vanities. The Aurora Suite has a queen-sized bed, lounge area and ensuite. Fares start at US$7,800 in an Aurora Suite for a three-day journey, while the Australis Suite costs US$11,710.
The design and interiors were created by Woods Bagot, drawing inspiration from art deco train design and Australian scenery.
Suite guests receive butler service, in-room dining, a curated bar and Bollinger Champagne served throughout the trip.
Passengers can book experiences off the train. Eastbound Indian Pacific travellers can take a scenic flight over the Super Pit in Kalgoorlie, while northbound passengers on the Ghan can observe Nitmiluk National Park by helicopter.
