The Westin Singapore has appointed James Walkden as general manager,
who in his new role will spearhead the operations and business
strategies of the downtown hotel.
Recently relocated from Australia to Singapore, Walkden was most
recently the Marriott International area director of operations,
Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, a position he held for more than
five years.
A passionate hotelier with over 30 years of experience in the
hospitality industry, Walkden counts industry experience with
established international hotel groups such as Hilton, Four Seasons,
Starwood, and Marriott International.
A British national with a strong background in food and beverage,
Walkden started his career with Hilton before moving to Sydney in 2000.
He then moved to Asia in 2010 to take up the role of hotel manager at W
Hong Kong.
Walkden is also no stranger to the Westin brand, having previously
held key positions at The Westin Sydney and as general manager of The
Westin Xi’an.
