Rosewood Hotel Group has appointed Joerg Zobel as COO, marking a significant move in the company's ambitious growth strategy. Based in Hong Kong, Zobel will commence his role on 25 September 2023, reporting directly to CEO Sonia Cheng.

In his new role, Zobel will be responsible for driving operational excellence, commercial success, and overseeing teams across various functions. He will head Rosewood Hotel Group’s global operations across its four brands, including Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, New World Hotels & Resorts, Asaya, and Carlyle & Co.

Zobel brings over 25 years of global experience from leading consumer-facing companies. In his most recent role, he served as the CEO and chairman of the board of Eschenbach Optik, one of Europe’s largest eyewear groups. Prior to that, he served as general manager, Asia Pacific for PUMA. Zobel is also a published author who has written about a diverse array of topics from industry disruption to the pursuit of happiness.

His deep understanding of the customer lifecycle will be pivotal in advancing the Rosewood lifestyle brand ecosystem, retail, and e-commerce teams to drive the group’s expansion beyond traditional hospitality. Rosewood has 46 hotels, resorts, and private member clubs currently operating and a strong pipeline of 38 projects under development worldwide.
