Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu has appointed Kanit Sangmookda as its new general manager, who will lead the hotel’s interests in product development, financial performance, brand compliance and guest satisfaction.
Armed with a master’s degree in International Business Management majoring in Management and Economics from Wollongong University, Australia, the Thai-born hospitality stalwart brings with him over 19 years of experience.
Articulate and personable, Sangmookda’s hospitality roots began in the reservations department at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, his competency eventually steering him towards roles like director of revenue management at Bangkok Marriott Resorts & Spa and The Westin Kuala Lumpur, as well as regional director of revenue management for Starwood Hotels & Resorts – Southeast Asia.
Sangmookda is also privy to Sabah’s hospitality scene, where he previously served as general manager of Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan for almost three years. He then moved on to manage Le Méridien Jakarta – where the brand later migrated to Marriott International – before finally arriving at his current appointment at Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu.
When not at work, the family man enjoys music, sports and photography. A firm believer of giving back to the community and paying forward to the next generation, Sangmookda also spent weekends lecturing at the Hotel Management Faculty of Assumption University when he was still in Thailand. Upon moving to Jakarta, he was also an executive committee of Jakarta Hotel Association, where he spearheaded the education and CSR sector.
