11 August 2000 Malaysia and Indonesia have agreed to set up a joint action committee to promote tourism between the two countries. Malaysia’s culture, arts and tourism minister Datuk Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said the committee would be made up of representatives from the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) and the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (Asita).
