MUMBAI – India’s Kingfisher Airlines has announced a roadmap for the next phase of its international route network.
Beginning September, Kingfisher plans to launch two new flights out of Mumbai. The two new routes will be Mumbai–Singapore and Mumbai-Hong Kong. Both will be daily direct return services and will be operated using the brand new Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Bookings for travel on these sectors are expected to open shortly.
The airline has also applied to the Ministry of Civil Aviation to commence operations on the New Delhi–London–New Delhi sector. The flights on this route will also be operated using the Airbus A330-200 and launch dates will be announced once the requisite regulatory approvals are in place. The launch of this new route will mark the first time that Kingfisher will commence international flights out of New Delhi.
Besides this route, there are plans to start flights from New Delhi to Bangkok and from New Delhi to Dubai. The flights on these two routes will be operated using the Airbus A320 / A321 aircraft.
There are also plans to commence flights between Mumbai and Bangkok, between Mumbai and Dubai and between Mumbai and Colombo. The flights on these routes will also be operated using the Airbus A320 / A321 aircraft.
“The plan to launch these new services is consistent with our goal of redeploying capacity on routes with better yields as compared to domestic sectors,” Prakash Mirpuri, vice president, Kingfisher corporate communications, said.
To ensure optimal and efficient utilization of its fleet and looking at the booked loads and yields during the period September to November this year, Kingfisher has likewise decided to suspend its flights on the Bangalore–London–Bangalore route and its feeder service on the Colombo–Bangalore–Colombo route effective September 15. The airline said all guests booked for this period will be accommodated on Kingfisher’s London–Mumbai–London flights with appropriate and convenient connections.
