15 June 2000 The expertise of four of Indonesia’s major outbound agencies are to be used in the launch of what is slated to become Indonesia’s biggest travel portal.
Astagatravel.com is due for launch September 1, and will have among its management line-up senior members of some of Jakarta’s big outbound names.
The portal will utilise Galileo for real-time online bookings, and partners with Astaga.com, one of the country’s biggest local language portals.
Written in Bahasa Indonesian, the site has over 200,000 members, and is understood to be financed with venture capital from a group including Zurich Insurance, Bank Of America and Batavia Investments.
Sources say the capital injection in the site is over US$15 million.
