Singapore hotel rates have surged ahead of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, as the race coincides with one of the city's busiest business events periods of the year.

Demand is being fuelled not only by racegoers but also by a packed calendar of more than 40 meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) events taking place around the Grand Prix weekend. The line-up includes TOKEN2049, the Global-Asia Family Office Summit, the Milken Institute Asia Summit and the Forbes Global CEO Conference.

The strong mix of leisure and corporate demand is translating into higher room rates across the city. Booking platforms have reported a sharp rise in reservations for the race period compared with last year, while some hotels are advertising rooms at several times their usual rates.

Back-to-back Formula One weekends in Sepang and Singapore have also encouraged some motorsport fans to extend their regional trips.

Demand beyond the circuit

For hotels, the overlap of Formula One and major business events has become an increasingly valuable demand driver.

Carlton Hotel Singapore reported occupancy levels of 95-98% from Tuesday through Sunday of race week, compared with around 82-85% during a typical October week, according to local reports.

Premium pricing returns

At Wyndham Singapore Hotel, lead-in room rates during the three-day race weekend averaged S$1,000-S$1,200 a night, while Marina Bay Suites overlooking the circuit were reported to be priced at about S$2,160 a night.

Those rates are more than three times those of a typical October weekend and significantly above Singapore's 2025 average hotel room rate of S$273.50.

However, higher rates have not necessarily translated into record occupancy. Industry data indicated bookings five weeks before the 2026 race were below the equivalent point in 2025, although broadly comparable with 2023 and slightly ahead of 2024.
