SilverNeedle Hospitality unveils new Sage Hotel in Perth

The hotel’s centrepiece is a heritage-listed black and white home built in 1902, which currently houses Julio’s, an Italian restaurant in Hay Street, West Perth. The hotel comprises of 101 guest rooms and multiple meeting spaces.

A new Sage Hotel has been officially unveiled in Singapore by its parent company, SilverNeedle – a Singapore-based hotel group.

The A$35 million (US$25.8m) hotel in Perth, Western Australia, was developed in partnership with a local property developer, the Australian Development Capital (ADC).

The hotel’s centrepiece is a heritage-listed black and white home built in 1902, which currently houses Julio’s, an Italian restaurant in Hay Street, West Perth. The hotel comprises of 101 guest rooms and multiple meeting spaces.

At a media event, Bill Black, co-founder and director, said the new development signals the brand’s departure from the “commoditisation of the global industry”.

“[Chairman and CEO] Anand Nadathur and I agreed the industry had changed; being a traditional hotelier I saw that we had to change to [keep pace] with the revolution in the industry.

“Today’s hotels need to be inclusive and to welcome the community,” he added.

Maintaining connections both online and offline, said Black, is one of the guiding principles of the hotel.

Guests enjoy complimentary wifi throughout the property, as well as pocket hotspot wifi while wandering the city. Foreign travellers can also access insider tips supplied by locals using the Sage mobile app.

As part of the launch, Sage Hotel is offering a ‘Sagacation’ package priced at S$215 per night (US$160) including welcome drinks, breakfast, a one-course meal at Julio’s, a hot spot device for wireless access on-the-go and a welcome gift showcasing the best of Western Australia’s local purveyors.

This package is for two people on a minimum two-night stay and children under 12 stay for free.
