Hotel Indigo, one of IHG Hotels & Resorts' brands, has introduced
a unique initiative named "Borrowed by Hotel Indigo," allowing guests
to borrow local items for an authentic neighbourhood experience.
This innovative programme, launched alongside the brand's extensive
marketing campaign, aims to reinforce community bonds and cultural
immersion.
The initiative stems from a global survey conducted by Hotel Indigo,
unveiling that 73% of respondents value hotel stays linked to local
neighbourhoods, fostering curiosity, exploration, and interaction.
From December 2023 to February 2024, Hotel Indigo locations in
Southeast Asia and other regions will offer guests the opportunity to
borrow area-specific items, showcasing the essence of their respective
neighbourhoods.
In Southeast Asia, guests at Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong can use
hotel-branded boxing gloves to try Muay Thai, while Hotel Indigo Bangkok
Wireless Road provides themed sets for exploring the city. Meanwhile,
Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong offers traditional Tiffin carriers (for
packing takeaway food from eateries), and Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak
Beach lets visitors experience Balinese culture through ceremonial
attire or surfing gear.
This initiative aims to revive the lost tradition of borrowing within
communities. Hotel Indigo properties in the US, UK, and Australia have
already initiated similar programmes, featuring commonly borrowed items
and locally sourced treats. This innovative offering intends to bridge
guests with local customs, fostering richer travel experiences.
