The chairman of the Parkview group, which was established by the Wong family in Taiwan in the 1950’s, led a company primarily focused on luxury real estate, including hotels.

The sudden death on December 2 of Hong Kong billionaire George Wong, aged 65, will be followed by a 49-day mourning period by the Hwang family.

The chairman of the Parkview group, which was established by the Wong family in Taiwan in the 1950’s, led a company primarily focused on luxury real estate, including hotels.

An avid art lover, Wang inherited the chairmanship from his father in 2003.

The Hong Kong Parkview Group’s projects include Hong Kong Parkview, Parkview Square and Parkview Eclat, Singapore, Parkview Garden in Shanghai, Parkview Green in Beijing, Hotel Eclat Beijing and Taipei, the Taiwan Chyau-Fwu Corporation, and the Beauvallon Hotel in St Tropez.

Wong was known for his collection of more than 10,000 contemporary Chinese artworks, Western classical works, as well as for his collection of Salvador Dalí paintings—the largest outside of Spain.

Parts of his extensive collection can be seen at Parkview properties, including at Parkview Museum, Singapore; Parkview Green Museum, FangCaodi, Beijing; Parkview Green Art Taipei; and Parkview Art Hong Kong.

Due to a period of mourning by the Hwamg family, this year’s New Year festivities at ATLAS bar in Singapore have been cancelled.

ATLAS Bar, a project close to Wong’s heart, occupies the ground floor of one of Singapore’s most iconic buildings, Parkview Square, in the Bugis neighbourhood.
