It’s estimated it will take six years, and US$650 million transform the property into the 63,500sqm mixed use commercial building.
After months of speculation, at the end of 2018 it was confirmed The Excelsior in Hong Kong would close.
D-day is March 31 2019, when the iconic 45-year-old hotel on Causeway Bay’s waterfront will close to allow for new development.
It’s estimated it will take six years, and US$650 million transform the property into the 63,500sqm mixed use commercial building.
Fans of the hotel have just over two months to bid a fond farewell to the hotel.
Especially missed will be the Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant Yee Tung Heen with its elegant tea counter, the rooftop restaurant and bar and its wildly popular Sunday brunches, and den-like gastro-pub Dickens Bar beloved for its British and Indian cuisine and pub quizzes.
The Fond Farewell Room Package includes three options for the historic final nights of operation from March 29-31.
The two nights’ stay can be combined with a Farewell Dinner for two at ToTT’s and Roof Terrace, Café on the 1st or Dickens Bar, and are priced at HK$9,688++ (US$1,235), HK$6,288++ (US$801) and HK$6,088++ (US$776) respectively.
Stays include invitations to the farewell reception on the March 30 and a quite possibly tearful final breakfast at Café on the 1st on the morning of the 31st.
