Heli-surfing Java’s legendary tubes with Four Seasons Resorts Bali

Soar over the sea before touching down in the national park, surf board under one arm, ready to run from jungle over deserted beach to the speedboat that will take you to the legendary tubes, often without another surfer in sight.

Heli-skiing has been around for a while, but the Four Seasons Resorts Bali and Tropicsurf have created heli-surfing at Java’s Grajagan (aka G-Land) for the property brand’s lucky guests.

“It doesn’t get much better than G-Land, one of the planet’s most legendary waves,” says Ross Phillips, founder and director of Tropicsurf.

Soar over the sea before touching down in the national park, surf board under one arm, ready to run from jungle over deserted beach to the speedboat that will take you to the legendary tubes, often without another surfer in sight.

You’ll have your own Tropicsurf guide, a private speedboat to access waves and transport organised for a daily rate of just US$10,000. Waving the chopper and going by speedboat from Bali reduces the rate to US$3500.

According to Phillips the waves range from beginner-friendly to seriously challenging.

“Our location in Jimbaran gives surfers convenient access to Bali’s best breaks, but Tropicsurf’s new Heli-Surfing tours take it to the next level, giving guests the experience of a lifetime,” says Uday Rao, the general manager of Four Seasons Resorts Bali. “Whether you’re a surfer or spectator, G-Land is a magical place for a day-trip that is now within easy reach of Bali.”

Best time of year for the waves is April through November during mid to high tides.
