Thailand's Khao Yai now has a Mövenpick
Mövenpick Resort Khao Yai has become the first internationally branded hotel name to open in the Thai destination of Khao Yai.
Located about a three hours’ drive from Bangkok, the Tuscan-styled resort features 112 rooms decorated in Renaissance and Modern Baroque styles, surrounded by mountainous views of the Khao Yai National Park right on site. Guests may pick from the 62 guestrooms, 50 villas or three-bedroom penthouse – most of which are fitted with views of the 18-hole golf course, pool and European garden.
Wedding parties hoping to maximise the resort’s European-like ambience, events and groups can also book the Ozone Hall, accommodating up to 200 guests cocktail style.
Flavours of Khao Yai features local and international fares, while Castleton Café offers farm-to-table and organic options using produce from the resort’s vegetable farm. The Panacee Wellness Khao Yai spa delivers health-recovery programmes ranging from holistic check-ups, anti-aging therapies, to hair and facial detox treatments.
Families with kids in tow can spend their days at the pool, or My Ozone Animal Club, housing farm animals including ponies, horses, chickens, rabbits, sheep and goats. Driving out, the area offers plenty of attractions such as the Jim Thompson Farm, GranMonte Vineyard and Winery, PB Valley Khao Yai Winery, and Heaw Narok Waterfall.
Mövenpick Resort Khao Yai is currently offering an opening special for deluxe room bookings, starting from 3,200 baht (US$102) per night, valid for stays until December 20, 2020.
Ozo George Town Penang
New Ozo in Penang gets lobby and facilities with high views
Ozo George Town Penang opened its doors on September 21 within a 22-storey city-centre tower, becoming the island’s first and only hotel with a penthouse sky lobby that overlooks the nearby old town and Straits of Malacca.
Launched by Thailand-based Onyx Hospitality Group, the 141 rooms and suites feature luxurious DreamMaster beds and a mural wall highlighting Penang’s well-preserved heritage buildings and shophouses. Picturesque views of the city and surroundings can be enjoyed from the hotel's facilities located on the top floors, including the library and lounge on level 20, hotel restaurant on level 21, and the infinity pool, gym and ON22 sky bar on level 22.
A short stroll from the hotel’s Jalan Argyll address leads to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, with Chinatown and Little India also in close proximity.
Ozo George Town Penang has launched an opening special of RM160+ (US$38.70) per night on a room-only basis, or RM200+ with daily breakfast for two. Rates stand for bookings made by 31 December this year for stays until 30 June 2021.

Ovolo's coming to South Yarra and Bali
Ovolo South Yarra is set to launch in Q1 2021, pushing the edge of retro chic and pop-art in Melbourne’s cultural heart.
Design is the star here, with cues from days of disco, rock gods and 70’s glamour splashed across the 123 rooms and suites, including mixed accents of chrome and colour, graphic wallpapers, plush pattern heavy furnishings and local flavour added through modern art installations.
For dining, eco-conscious guests will enjoy the fresh and locally sourced produce and ethical eating ways. Seasonal cocktails and wines from local producers will also be a highlight.
Another property, Mamaka By Ovolo in Kuta, Bali will join the design hotel collection in late 2020.

Four Seasons opens doors in Tokyo’s oldest neighbourhood
Sitting within Tokyo’s oldest neighbourhood and steps away from the Imperial Palace is the newly launched Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi.
Marking the group’s third property in Japan, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi's location on the highest floors of a new 39-storey tower in the financial district of Otemachi guarantees panoramic views of Tokyo’s skyline, and even Mount Fuji on a clear day.
The 193 rooms and suites are housed between levels 34 and 38, featuring a design aesthetic that is marked by clean lines, relaxed colour palettes, artworks, open spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows in every room.
The top floor spa features five treatment rooms and a 25m pool. With four F&B outlets at the luxury outpost, Italian fare can be found at Pigneto; Michelin-starred Chef Guillaume Bracaval heading up Est; cocktail bar VIRTÙ; and The Lounge gives a contemporary spin on traditional afternoon tea.
Private rooms of these F&B venues can be turned into spaces for social and corporate functions, as are the events spaces including a ballroom and four meeting rooms on the third floor.
Heading out, guests will enjoy the direct link to Otemachi Station which directly connects to four Tokyo Metro lines, with JR Tokyo and Kanda Stations within walking distance.

Andaz plants flag in Xiamen, China
Hyatt Hotels launched Andaz Xiamen in early September, marking its second Andaz property in China.
Located within the mixed used development of The MixC and close to Xiamen Botanical Garden, the 304-room hotel offers guests an immersive experience in South China’s local neighbourhood.
The hotel resembles a modern mansion inspired by tropical Nanyang flavour – high ceilings inspired by pergolas, artwork featuring flora and fauna, and wicker and rattan details. Artwork by local artistes are dotted all round, making that connection to community. Staff uniform is the work of Xiamen designer, Wan Yifang.
For events and business planners, Andaz Xiamen offers 21,527sqm of event space, including seven standalone spaces ranging from 80-to-900sqm and accommodating up to 800 guests.
