The Standard is stepping up its expansion in Asia, with Singapore picked as its next destination for the brand in Southeast Asia.

Slated to launch in 2023, The Standard, Singapore comes after new builds coming up in Thailand's Hua Hin (opening November 2021) and its Asia flagship in Bangkok's Mahanakhon district (opening 2022).

Standard International CEO Amar Lalvani said: “Singapore has emerged into an incredibly important and innovative hub in Asia and we couldn't be more excited about this development. New hotel licenses in the city are rare and highly coveted and we feel very fortunate to partner with Invictus Developments to bring this project to life.”

The 143-room along Orange Grove Road will also be one of very few ground-up hotels to be built in proximity to the hotel-dense Orchard Road precinct, which will welcome voco Orchard Singapore in January 2022.

Amenities at The Standard, Singapore include the brand's signature restaurant, infinity pool and pool bar, and arts and cultural programming.

The hotel will be developed by Invictus Developments, a boutique real estate investment company owned by Indonesian businessman Bachtiar Karim.
