JAKARTA - Following final confirmation of its Jakarta–Frankfurt daily direct route last week, Garuda Indonesia has confirmed it will pull its planes out of Thailand from late October.

"Since the Winter schedule will start on October 28, the last flight to and from Bangkok should be on the October 27," vice president consulting, Walter Prenzler told TravelWeekly East.

Garuda currently serves Bangkok-Bali three times a week, with London flights refueling in the Thai capital before heading on to Denpasar.

While this is a popular route with UK travel agents, the new schedule re-emphasises Jakarta as the Asian hub city for flights from Europe to Bali, instead of Bangkok and Singapore.

Prenzler said the carrier had investigated a possible dedicated flight to Bangkok, but decided it would not be profitable.
