A new festival aims to position Doi Saket as Chiang Mai’s next cultural destination for international travellers.

Doi Saket is an elevated farming district in the eastern part of Chiang Mai, known by travellers for its spectacular scenery. It is about 30-40 minutes from the city centre.

Chiang Mai Voyage of Light 2026 – inspired by the story of the Tai Lue heritage, reimagines the traditional Yi Peng celebration through authentic Lanna culture, local craftsmanship, faith and sustainability.

From hand-spun cotton transformed into ceremonial lamps to community participation and a zero-waste circular economy, every element of the festival is designed to preserve local traditions and create benefits for the community.

A lantern festival on 24–25 November will include a spectacular lantern release, traditional Lanna performances, Tai Lue cultural experiences, artisan workshops, local cuisine, and eco-friendly activities.

Along with the cultural festival, the CMVOL Golf Experience from 13-26 November combines three championship courses with VIP festival access.
