The report also unearthed other important pieces of information such as the fact that almost half of all corporate travellers make changes to their trips with more than 43% of corporate travellers from 19 countries deviating from company policy ahead of a trip and 42% are making changes while travelling, highlighting the difficulty in balancing compliance and traveller satisfaction.

Sabre, one of the world’s leading technology providers for the global travel industry, released results from a recent study, and among the highlights were revelations that almost half of all corporate travellers make changes to their trips, there has been a rise in the use of mobile and virtual payment technologies, and that premium economy is a new corporate favourite.

Perhaps the biggest surprise in the 2017 Asia Pacific Corporate Traveller study was that 80 percent of travel managers now believe mobility to be the biggest priority in managing corporate travel, which could have huge implications for the way in which corporate travel is conducted.

Another issue facing corporate travellers is the need to cut back on the costs of flights. As such, there has been a big shift towards premium economy - in both directions - for corporate travellers. Economic uncertainty has driven many companies (over half of the respondents to the survey) to shift to the much more affordable premium economy options. In total, 81 percent of respondents said they are seeing an increase in premium economy bookings.
