BALI - One of Asia’s most deluxe resorts, Begawan Giri Estate in Bali, is now in the hands of COMO Hotels and Resorts, whose portfolio includes the Metropolitan hotels in London and Bangkok, and the Halkin in London.

COMO, run by Singaporean businesswoman Christina Ong, will assume immediate management with significant investment, said a press statement.

Begawan Giri, the exclusive address of the seriously rich, was developed by Bradley Gardner and his wife Debbie. The resort has been ranked in the Top 10 'Overseas Leisure Hotels Asia' in Conde Nast Travellers’ Readers' Travel Awards 2003, and Voted #1 in the Top 100 'Best Of The Best' in 2002.

It is considered to be a perfect match with COMO’s existing island retreats, including Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos, and Cocoa Island in the Maldives. In summer 2004, the company opens a second Balinese resort, Uma Ubud, in addition to Uma Paro, the first ever five-star hotel to open in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.

COMO’s future plans for developing the property will include the creation of a world-class destination spa.
