A turtle has stopped a passenger aircraft in its tracks at the Gold Coast Airport in Australia.

The pilot of the Jetstar flight on Thursday braked after the turtle wandered across the runway just as the plane was taxiing ahead of take-off for Adelaide.

The control tower responded to the pilot’s call for help, telling him it wasn’t the turtle’s first offence that day.

A Jetstar spokesman told the ABC, “They said he’d been up there earlier in the day as well. It was the second time they’d had to move him.”

The plane waited while the turtle made its way to a creek near the airport fence. Airport authorities later took the turtle to a safer spot.
