KUALA LUMPUR – As destinations around the world grapple with containing the pandemic, China has shown itself to be the world’s benefactor, providing medical aid and healthcare workers to countries from Malaysia, Italy and Japan.

Today, China dispatched a first delivery of medical supplies to Sungai Buloh Hospital, according to a Facebook post on the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia’s page.

A lorry transporting medical aid boxes to the hospital on Thursday bore a sticker with the flags of the two nations.

China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian had reportedly pledged to donate equipment to Malaysia, including ventilators, face masks, testing kits and sanitisers.

Previously, China had sent planeloads of ventilators, masks and medics to Italy and France, pledged to help the Philippines, Spain and other countries, and deployed medics to Iran and Iraq.
