In celebration of National Avocado Day on July 31, Booking.com commissioned the Avo-Condo, a custom-built, self-contained condo, which resembles half an avocado on the outside and is complete with avocado-themed furnishings on the inside - all with a world-class view.

Booking.com has had to disappoint those who fancied staying at its Avo-Condo on Sydney’s Circular Quay on Wednesday and Thursday this week – the only two dates available to spend a night in world-first avocado-shaped accommodation.

In celebration of National Avocado Day on July 31, Booking.com commissioned the Avo-Condo, a custom-built, self-contained condo, which resembles half an avocado on the outside and is complete with avocado-themed furnishings on the inside - all with a world-class view.

“At Booking.com, we’re proud to offer our customers unique and unforgettable places to stay all over the world,” said Luke Wilson, area manager at Booking.com Australia.

“Inspired by the world’s obsession with all things avocado, the Avo-Condo is a fun, quintessentially Australian experience like no other.”

A message on the Booking.com website today indicated that the Avo-Condo had been sold out and no bookings were being taken.

Five fun facts to celebrate National Avocado Day
1. Avocados aren’t a fruit or a vegetable, but in fact a berry!
2. They used to be called ‘alligator pears’
3. The largest avocado on record weighed 2.4 kilos (5.3 pounds)
4. The avocado seed was once used to make ink
5. All avocados are picked by hand, using a five-metre pole
