TOKYO – Tokyo’s famous Ghibli Museum will temporarily shut its doors from Feb 24 until Mar 17 in view of the coronavirus outbreak situation, and offer refunds for tickets already purchased for visits in February and March.

The museum has announced that the decision was made after consultations with the city, where Tokyo’s metropolitan government had issued a policy to postpone or cancel upcoming major events – indicating that the next three weeks would be a crucial time to contain the outbreak.

Featuring Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki’s works, the museum requires advance reservations for entry, allowing only a maximum of 2,400 visitors daily.
