Thrill-seeking travellers torn between surfing among the breaking
waves in Bali and skiing down the Swiss Alps and skateboarding will find
that the tropical island of Singapore will soon offer these experiences
in bite-sized portions all rolled up in a neat package.
Trifecta by The Ride Side will open in the heart of Singapore’s prime
shopping district, Orchard Road, in 2023, featuring three action sports
arenas – surf, snow, and skate. The integrated sports facility will
stretch across 4,610sqm in Orchard Road’s Somerset area, featuring a
wave pool, skate bowl and VR snow arena.
A deep-water wave pool in the surf area utilises technology to create
high velocity waves and water columns of up to 1.5m. The snow arena,
equipped with snowy slopes, will deliver an immersive experience in
skiing or snowboarding with the first virtual reality ski/snowboarding
simulator that changes the speed and directional movements to mimic the
uneven terrains of a natural mountain. Meanwhile, the skate arena will
be designed for both skateboarding and surfskating, making it the
world’s first hybrid skate bowl.

The snow arena at Trifecta will be powered by the first VR ski simulator in Asia.
Along with the snow, skate, and surf arenas, the attraction will also house F&B outlets and retail stores.
Conceptualised by The Ride Side, a Singapore-based adventure sports
company, the inspiration behind this attraction was “to bring the
mountains and the waves to the urban centre of Singapore,” said Daphne
Goh, co-founder of the company.
Trifecta will also offer eco education programmes that teaches
participants how to upsyscle and recycle sports equipment to extend the
usage alongside educational tours on sustainability sustainable spatial
design of the attraction and its retail partners that champion conscious
production and consumption practices.
Singapore Tourism Board’s chief executive Keith Tan had advised
travel agents at the Tourism Industry Conference 2022 on dialling up the
fun factor for their client’s travel itinerary. He referenced choosing
the country’s more hands-on, educational experiences, such as this
upcoming attraction that complements “Orchard Road’s existing offerings
and the youthful identity of the Somerset area” and an immersive Avatar
experience coming soon to Gardens by the Bay.
