The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has
unveiled Tourism Selangor as Malaysia’s featured destination at this
year's MATTA Fair, which will take place 1-3 September 2023 at Malaysia
International Trade & Exhibition Centre Malaysia (MITEC).
This year's MATTA Fair promises an exceptional showcase of Malaysia's
tourism potential, with Tourism Selangor taking centre stage. Spanning a
vast area of 34 booths, covering over 306 sqm, the Tourism Selangor
pavilion will feature curated and thoughtfully designed booths. These
vibrant booths will spotlight the diverse attractions, historical
landmarks, and the lively local culture that make Selangor and Malaysia a
top-choice destination for global travellers.
Our vision is to catalyse the growth of domestic tourism in Malaysia by creating an environment where different facets of the industry can synergise effectively.– Nigel Wong, president, MATTA
Nigel Wong, the newly appointed president of MATTA,
articulated the vision behind this event: “Our vision is to catalyse
the growth of domestic tourism in Malaysia by creating an environment
where different facets of the industry can synergise effectively.
Through the segmentation of the domestic hall, we are providing a
platform for our members to forge meaningful connections, share
insights, and enhance our buyers overall experience to be more
productive and fruitful.”
At the heart of Tourism Selangor's participation is the introduction
of an innovative approach to domestic tourism. By strategically dividing
the domestic hall into distinct categories, including states,
hoteliers, and free zones, Tourism Selangor is establishing a dynamic
networking platform that encourages enhanced collaboration among
stakeholders. This forward-thinking framework streamlines engagement and
opens doors to novel business opportunities within the domestic tourism
landscape.
MATTA has set an ambitious target sales turnover of RM70 million
(US$15.3 million), which underscores the organisation's dedication to
supporting economic growth, fostering job creation, and showcasing the
vast potential of Malaysia's domestic tourism market.
The fair will be open from 10 am to 9 pm over three days, from Friday
to Sunday, and admission is free. Frequent shuttle services to MITEC
will be provided from KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall.
