Independent Brazilian jet manufacturer Embraer continues to rack up
orders, for a range of smaller and regional jets, neatly filling the
gaps in airline fleets left by the duopoly of Boeing and Airbus.
Since it was founded in 1969, Embraer has delivered more than 8,000
aircraft. On average, about every 10 seconds an aircraft manufactured by
Embraer takes off somewhere in the world, transporting more than 145
million passengers a year.
Last week Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines,
launched its first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft with its inaugural flight to
Krabi and Hat Yai.
The introduction of these aircrafts, will enable Scoot to enhance its
extensive network connectivity, now spanning 67 destinations. The
second E190-E2 aircraft is currently undergoing final preparations for
operations, with the remaining seven aircraft expected to be delivered
by the end of 2025.
Other recent customers for the E190-E2 aircraft are LOT Polish Airlines and Royal Jordanian Airlines.
The E190-E2 is part of a family of advanced-generation E-Jets that
offer the quietest, lowest polluting, and most fuel-efficient aircraft
in the under-150 seat market.
Arjan Meijer, president and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation said,
“Later this year we will announce several performance improvements for
the E2, which has also proven it is ready to fly on 100% SAF
(Sustainable Aviation Fuel).
“The E2 continues to demonstrate its advantages in fuel burn,
emissions, quietness, reliability, and passenger comfort, and airlines
are taking notice.”
