SeatGuru – the site used by many to find the best, or avoid the worst seats on an aircraft – is no more.
The domain was purchased from frequent flier Matt Daimler by Trip Advisor in 2007 but has slowly lost its way, most noticeably after the Covid pandemic.
Seat Guru highlighted the best seats in green, the worst in red and those to approach with caution in yellow. If you wanted to avoid sitting next to the toilets, or next to babies in bassinets, Seat Guru was your friend.
Fans of the site have taken to social media to mourn the passing of SeatGuru and suggest that TripAdvisor, who shut it down this week, never gave it any love. Fleets and seating configurations became out of date as aircraft were refitted or renewed.
AeroLOPA is being touted as a replacement for SeatGuru, but its critics say while the site may look visually appealing, it leaves the viewer to work out which seats to choose and which to avoid.
