National carrier Garuda Indonesia is enjoying its top spot for On-Time Performance (OTP) in comparison with other global airlines in Asia Pacific, as reported by UK-based air travel intelligence company OAG.
The results reflect the time frame between October and December 2018, where the report also stated that Garuda clocked an OTP arrival rate of 89.9% across more than 15,000 flights. In a statement released by Garuda, they are the only Asian airline to hold the title for five consecutive months, maintaining their stellar performance even after the end of last year.
The airline’s management has additionally expressed their continual efforts to maintain strong coordination, in order to optimise Garuda’s operational services, and thus, retain its OTP ranking.
Speaking on the upcoming peak season of Idul Fitri, Bambang Adisurya Angkasa, Garuda’s operational director said, “We will continue to perform on time through the inspection of flight operation, particularly in safety measures […], therefore we are confident we can go through the peak season safely, punctually and comfortably”.
