Cebu Pacific has announced new and additional flights to Singapore and Japan in the upcoming months.

Starting October 29, the carrier will double the weekly flights between Tokyo and Manila to 14 flights. In the next two months, it will also be launching more frequent flights from Manila to cities such as Osaka, Nagoya and Narita.

Japan is Philippines’ fourth largest visitor market.

Come November 2, Cebu Pacific will also launch flights from Singapore’s newly opened Terminal 4 (T4) at Changi Airport, with thrice-daily flights between Manila and Singapore, 12 weekly flights to and from Cebu and Clark, Pampanga, and twice weekly flights from Davao and Iloilo.

Tourist arrivals to the Philippines have seen a 19.60% growth in May this year compared to the same month last year, with the country welcoming 532,757 visitors, which can be attributed to the country’s hosting of international events such as the ASEAN@50, according to data from Department of Tourism, Philippines.

Low-cost carriers in the Philippines have also been playing a part in pulling in more visitors with their aggressive expansion, with the main bulk of visitors arriving at its Manila airport (64.2%), followed by in Cebu (19.66%) and Kalibo (10.50%).

Domestic connectivity between the Islands is also improving with more flights being launched from Cebu Pacific’s Clark and Cebu hubs to destinations such as Caticlan (Boracay), Busuanga and Cotabato.

“Visitors still have misconceptions of the Philippines–that it’s not safe or its too far and inaccessible. But the perception is slowly changing from five years ago. With better connectivity, destinations like Tagbilaran in Bohol are only a short three- or four-hour flight away,” shared Ma. Rosario Lagamon (Charo), corporate communications director, Cebu Pacific Air, at a press briefing.
