A 32 year-old man holding Australian and Irish passports fell four floors to his death from an escalator at Suvarnabhumi airport.
Identified as Alan Paul Grimes, the fatally injured man was given first aid by medical staff and rushed to Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8.06am on April 1.
According to airport surveillance, Grimes rode the escalator from the third floor to the fourth floor at the passenger terminal and jumped when he reached the top of the escalator.
He landed on the first floor near Gate 4 at the terminal.
Authorities had previously installed 2.5-metre-high glass walls inside and outside of the terminal as similar such incidents had occurred there before, said Kittpong Kittikachorn, safety director of Suvarnabhumiairport, to Bangkok Post.
Police are investigating the case.
