AirAsia X (AAX) has launched its first direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul, marking the airline’s first-ever connect to Türkiye.
The new service will depart four times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) from Singapore, flying through Kuala Lumpur. The inaugural flight on 14 November 2025 departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (T2).
Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X noted that “Istanbul has long been one of the most requested destinations among AAX’s guests”, adding that Turkey received over 62 million international visitors in 2024.
Calling Turkey a “strong and dynamic market with immense potential for both leisure and business travel”, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, executive chairman of Capital A, said that the new route would serve increasing traveller demand into various major cities in Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.
AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) currently operates 11 daily flights weekly between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
