BANGKOK - Michael Issenberg, managing director for Accor Asia-Pacific said on Monday that in addition to its third Sofitel property under construction in Sukhumvit Road, the hotel group was considering a third Novotel in the capital at a property being developed by Central Hotels & Resorts.

Accor Asia-Pacific currently operates four hotels in Bangkok, two Sofitels and two Novotels.

While discussions with Central Hotels were not yet underway, Issenberg said the company was eyeing its four-star development project adjacent to the World Trade Centre in the heart Bangkok.

The project which will see construction begin within the first half of next year, will include a 450 room 4-star hotel and a convention centre capable of seating up to 5,000 delegates.

According to Central Hotels the project will take about a year and a half to compete with convention facilities modelled on the Bangkok Convention Centre (BCC) complex at the Sofitel Central Plaza Bangkok.
