2 April 2002TOKYO - All Nippon Airways has commenced a codeshare agreement with Mexicana Airlines to tap increasing demand for outbound travel from Japan to Mexico.
Over the past five years, travel between Japan and Mexico has enjoyed an average annual growth rate of 15 percent, with Japanese visitors to Mexico topping 50,000 last year.
The new codeshare started March 31 and takes in ANA-operated flights between Tokyo (Narita) and Los Angeles, and Mexicana-operated flights between Los Angeles and Mexico City and Guadalajara.
ANA is also extending its codeshare with Korea’s Asiana Airlines, effective April 18, taking in Asiana-operated flights connecting Tokyo (Narita), Nagoya and Fukuoka with Seoul, and ANA Group Airline Air Japan-operated flights connecting Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka (Kansai) with Seoul.
ANA and Asiana will also be expanding their existing codeshare to 91 roundtrip flights a week on a total of five routes: Narita – Seoul 35 roundtrip flights a week, Haneda – Seoul 21 roundtrip flights a week, Kansai – Seoul 21 roundtrip flights a week, and seven flights a week on Nagoya and Fukuoka – Seoul.
