SINGAPORE – AEROLINE, a coach operator that plies the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur, as well as the Petaling Jaya route, is targeting the business traveller.
Law Cheok Gheen, CEO of AEROLINE said, “We are carving out a new market and expanding in response to demand.
“People who used to fly now prefer to take the coach especially as KLIA is a long commute from the city centre.”
He added that travellers save time from the pre-flight procedures such as long walks to departure gates, waiting at baggage carousels and immigration queues. AEROLINE service centers are located within the city centers of each country at a hotel location, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore, the Corus Hotel KL and the MenaraAxis PJ.
The company invested RM3.5 million on six new double-deck coaches with amenities to suit the business traveller. The lower deck features work stations, power sockets, kitchenette and entertainment system.
Each of the 30 seats on the upper deck has a power socket so business travellers can work on their lap-tops or recharge their mobile devices.
“Business travellers can make full use of their time on the five-hour journey and our coach product is geared towards the busy executive,” said Law.
For example, at www.aeroline.com.sg travellers can book both their coach tickets and hotel accommodation. A round-trip ticket costs S$94 and Law forecasts AEROLINE carrying 150,000 passengers with the recent coach expansion.
The coach operator will offer nine-daily services by year-end. The company is also looking at providing Internet access on the coach. He said conferences and meetings can be held throughout the coach journey, with AEROLINE providing chartered services.
