The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, will launch a luxury service between Paris and Italy’s Amalfi Coast next year as part of its expanding Villeggiatura by Train series, which offers overnight rail journeys with stays at Belmond’s hotels in Italy.

Departing Paris in May 2026, the three-night route will transport guests through France and into Italy with a stop in Pompeii for a private tour before continuing to Ravello for a stay at Belmond’s Caruso, a luxury hotel housed in a former 11th-century palazzo in Ravello.

The journey includes a Champagne welcome, regionally inspired dining, and evenings in the train’s Bar Car ‘3674’ with live piano music and cocktails.

The term “villeggiatura” is an Italian phrase for a leisurely summer vacation at a slow pace.

The train offers three 1920s era Art Deco cabin types: Historic Twin Cabins, Suites, and Grand Suites.

The Grand Suites are the most spacious, with private marble bathrooms, dedicated seating and dining areas, and design elements themed around specific cities.

The new Paris–Amalfi Coast route joins a collection of Italian itineraries for 2026, including journeys ending in Venice and Florence.

The collection also sees the return of the Paris–Portofino route, pairing a journey through the French and Italian Rivieras with a stay at the recently restored Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino.

Prices for the “Villeggiatura by Train – Paris to the Amalfi Coast” itinerary begin at £8,600 per person (US$11,500 based on current conversion rates).
