In Japan, the problem of snagging a spot at coveted restaurants is further complicated for non-Japanese speaking diners.
For many Asian travellers, food is at the top of their minds when they are exploring a new destination. Yet before one can bask in the joy of a truly sublime dining experience, there is a need to find ways to snag a spot at these coveted restaurants.
In Japan, the problem is further complicated, no thanks to language barriers, which can confound non-Japanese speaking diners.
Said Takashi Yamada, founder of TABLEALL, "I knew there had to be a better way. The experience of Japan's rich food culture is something I love about the country, and is one of the leading causes of tourism, but it is often too inaccessible."
By visiting the online booking platform, diners can conveniently choose from a growing list of restaurants, and secure their seating with a fee of 3,000 Yen (US$26.75).
At the moment, there are 12 partner restaurants, including Sushisho Saito, Harutaka, Tempura Motoyoshi, Higuchi, and Suetomi - all of which are based in Tokyo, but Yamada plans to add more restaurants in Kyoto and Hokkaido by mid this year.
TABLEALL also provides articles detailing the story behind the chef's passion, the restaurant's history as well as descriptions of dishes. Diners can also send private messages directly to the chef after the meal, allowing both chefs and diners to continue building connections, which ultimately result in an enhanced dining experience.
