The Sultan of Johore has paid millions of dollars for a prime slice of riverside real estate in Perth, Western Australia.
Malaysia’s Sultan Ibrahim Ismail paid A$8.5 million (US$6.7m)for the 1993sqm block overlooking the Swan River. The land is part of the redevelopment of a former hospital site in one of Perth’s poshest suburbs, known locally as Millionaire’s Row.
Local news reports say that it is unclear what the Sultan, a car and motorcycle collector, who studied in the US, intends for the site, but it is thought he will build a riverside mansion.
