Royal Caribbean International's Wonder of the Seas will set sail from Shanghai and Hong Kong in 2022 on four- to nine-night adventures towards Japan, Vietnam, South Korea and Taipei.

Currently under construction in Saint-Nazaire, France, Wonder will become the world’s largest cruise ship upon completion, and is also Royal Caribbean's first Oasis class ship to homeport in China when it arrives in March 2022.

“China continues to be one of the most important parts of the world for Royal Caribbean. We have won the trust of our partners and the favour of travellers and built on that significantly since we first set sail 12 years ago," said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

"By introducing Wonder of the Seas and the iconic Oasis Class to China, our strong commitment to the market’s growth is reaffirmed yet again for years to come,” he added.

Between March and November 2022, the 18-deck, 2,867 staterooms ship will sail roundtrip from Shanghai to Japan, which will include ports of call at Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Ishigaki and Miyazaki.

Wonder will then homeport in Hong Kong from November 2022 through January 2023 for the Christmas and New Year festive seasons, where destinations will include Chan May, Vietnam; Busan and Jeju, South Korea; Kochi and Okinawa, Japan; and Taipei, China.

Capable of accommodating up to 6,988 guests, another first for Wonder is the ship's concept of neighbourhoods, such as Central Park, home to more than 20,000 plants; the open-air AquaTheater featuring high-diving acrobatic and aquatic performances; Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea; and a 25-metre zipline 10 decks above the Boardwalk neighbourhood.

Other returning neighbourhood favourites are the Pool & Sports Zone featuring the popular FlowRider; original productions and karaoke fun at Entertainment Place; shopping, dining and entertainment at Royal Promenade; the Vitality Spa & Fitness Center; and a Youth Zone.

The latest newcomer to the neighbourhood is dedicated to suite guests, who can indulge in world-class dining, a new sun deck, private lounge and an ultimate family suite for bigger groups.

The fifth ship in Royal's Oasis Class, Wonder's inaugural season cruises are now open for bookings.
