Valletta in Malta has been crowned as the most breathtaking port to sail into, ahead of Ushuaia in Argentina and, in third place, Palermo in Sicily.
Cruise travel cover specialists, AllClear Travel Insurance, compiled the world’s Top 20 most beautiful ports using eye-tracking technology to determine which ports capture travellers’ attention the fastest and for the longest.
Ports in Europe dominate the rankings, and no port in Asia makes the list. Only Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal in the heart of the city is ranked, coming in at No 7 most beautiful.
Valetta is a UNESCO World Heritage site, where cruise passengers entering the city have breathtaking views of historic fortifications, while Ushuaia is the starting point for voyages to the Antarctic.
