Scenic Group expands APAC push with new hires and ships

Scenic Group is strengthening its Asia Pacific (APAC) footprint as it marks its 40th anniversary in 2026, expanding its regional team while also unveiling three new river ships for deployment in Europe and Asia over 2027 and 2028.

The company announced an expanded APAC team under Scenic Tours APAC, targeting the region’s high-net worth individuals and a rapidly growing luxury cruise segment.

The Singapore-based office is led by Anthony Laver, GM, sales & marketing, APAC, who’s based in Sydney. He is joined by three new appointments across sales and marketing, who have had previous roles at luxury travel and cruise lines.

This includes Dominic Tan, regional sales and marketing manager, APAC, who joins from his most recent role with Norwegian Cruise Lines Holdings. He brings more than 20 years of experience across the regional travel markets, including senior roles with travel agencies and travel technology sectors.

Also joining the APAC teams are luxury cruise sales managers Sophia Lam and Jessie Tan, two experienced sales and marketing professionals with strong corporate and MICE expertise, including previous stints at Royal Caribbean Group, Resorts World Sentosa and Chan Brothers Travel between them.

Founding members of the APAC team comprise Quoc Huy To, director of finance Asia (Singapore & Vietnam offices); Lim Yee Sher, marketing & partner services manager APAC (Singapore office); and Ally Grueter, senior sales manager, charters & partnerships APAC, based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Expanding river capacity

The regional expansion comes as Scenic Group also commits to three additional river ships, signalling a broader push to deepen its presence across Europe and Asia.

The expansion includes one new Emerald star-ship for Emerald Cruises & Tours and two Scenic space-ships for Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours.

Scenic Spirit II will launch in early 2028 on the Mekong River, flowing through Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Emerald Nova will launch in June 2027 on the Douro River, introducing two longer itineraries for a deeper dive into the region and complemented by active options such as guided hikes and kayaking.

Scenic Aria launches later in September 2027, joining the Scenic Azure in Portugal

Bookings for the Emerald Nova and Scenic Aria are now open, while Scenic Spirit II is available for pre-registration and sales slated to open in mid 2026.

The announcement comes are on top of previously confirmed ships, with a total of nine new vessels expected to join the fleet over the next three years.

These include ocean ships the Emerald Kaia (April 2026), Emerald Raiya (2027), Emerald Xara (2028) and Scenic Ikon (2028). River cruises include the Emerald Astra (2026), Emerald Lumi, Emerald Nova and Scenic Aria (2027), and Scenic Spirit II (2028).
